Research and Development of LEM & MAK

Recently, fermented foods have been attracting attention as health foods. Fermented foods [LEM][MAK] developed by Noda Shokubutsu Kogyo are packed with unknown power that has yet to be elucidated, with more than 90 patents, 100 papers published, and presentations at domestic academic conferences. We aim to establish a variety of backup systems, including product development by researchers in our own laboratory, sales and support by our sales staff, and the pursuit of evidence through our network of medical institutions and public organizations.
 
At Noda Shokukin, we place great importance on scientific evidence for our ingredients. We have obtained a number of various patents based on this data and strive to ensure the reliability and certainty of our products through academic papers.

Collaborative Research

We conduct joint research with universities and medical institutions and publish the results in academic papers. We are working to expand the possibilities of functional foods in collaboration with the Japanese Pharmaceutical Society, Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM), and the field of integrative medicine.

Evidence: Examples of MAK Academic Reports

There are many academic reports regarding MAK.
<Examples>
- MAK suppresses the proliferation of the hepatitis C virus. (YUKAWA ICHO HOSPITAL / Dr.TAKASHIMA)
- MAK suppresses metabolic syndrome.
- MAK shows protective effects against brain damage caused by transient cerebral ischemia.
 
■ Clinical Trial of Hepatitis C Treatment with MAK (Mannentake Mushroom Mycelium Extract)
 
<Product Summary>
MAK is commercially available as a health food and has a high safety profile.
 
<Trial Summary>  
In six cases of chronic hepatitis C and cirrhosis [ages 57 to 77 (average age 67), 2 males and 4 females], MAK was administered at a dose of 6g per day for 12 months. Liver function tests, core antibody levels, and HCV-RNA quantities were measured monthly.
 
<Test Results>
- The administration of MAK resulted in a decrease in AST and ALT levels in half of the cases.
- It is believed that MAK can improve the degree of hepatocellular damage.
- A significant reduction in viral load was observed in one case, with a decrease of 17%, suggesting the possibility of viral suppression.
- No adverse effects or worsening of symptoms were observed during the treatment.
 
<Conclusion> 
The therapeutic effect of MAK on hepatitis C is considered to be gradual but highly beneficial.

① Key Points
This study aims to clarify the effects of MAK on H/I-induced infarction and neurological deficits.
Effects of MAK:
The enlargement of cerebral infarction in KKAy was alleviated in the MAK groups.
In the rotarod test, H/I and subsequent reoxygenation significantly impaired motor coordination and balance in the control group, whereas the sham operation itself did not cause any deficits.
Pretreatment with MAK significantly and dose-dependently suppressed deficits in locomotive function.
・Compared to the control group, the MAK (1 g/kg) group showed a better neurological score.
